The best last-minute saves usually start with an apology. This one started with a text from a Coppell mom who, somewhere in the rush of a very big week, had completely forgotten to order balloons for her son’s party. The date was almost here. Was there any chance we could still help?
As it happened, we had an opening, and we are based just a couple of miles away. So the answer was yes. Her son had just been accepted to the University of North Texas. He was officially an Eagle, and that called for green.
What she had in mind
We sorted the whole thing out over text. He was UNT bound, so the look was Mean Green: the deep forest green and white that any North Texas family knows on sight. She had already bought the backdrops, a set of tall white arched panels, and just needed the balloons to bring them to life.
That is a request we are always happy to hear. Plenty of people already have a backdrop, a sign, or a piece they love, and they just want the balloon work built around it. We told her no problem, we can absolutely work with what you have. With the colors settled and the date close, we got to building.
How we built it
We worked the garland right around her white backdrop so the two read as one piece instead of balloons parked next to a panel.
The palette was three greens and white: a deep forest green, a true kelly green, and a bright lime, with white worked through to keep it from going too dark. We anchored the garland with 16-inch latex, the big rounded balloons that give an organic garland its weight, ran 11-inch balloons through the middle, and tucked 5-inch ones into every gap so the whole thing read as one full, continuous sweep.
We shaped it as an organic arch, heavier and fuller across the top corner of the backdrop and cascading down the side toward the table below, where her flowers and a few photos were waiting. Because this was a tight turnaround and the house was just a couple of miles away in Riverchase, we built efficiently and drove it over for the install. Being based right here in Coppell is the whole reason a same-week save like this was even possible.
The “h*ll yeah”
We set the whole thing up in the Riverchase house, stepped back, and it looked exactly like a kid who just got into his dream school should come home to.
Then the kid himself came downstairs, took one look at it, and said, “H*ll yeah.”
That was the review. It was a hit. His mom was thrilled, the new Eagle was thrilled, and a setup that started as a slightly panicked text turned into one of the easiest yeses we said all spring.
A small note on last-minute orders and working with what you have
Two things this party is a good reminder of.
First, if you forgot to order, ask anyway. We cannot always pull off a quick turnaround, but sometimes we have an opening, and being a local Coppell team means we can occasionally turn a job around fast for a neighbor a couple of streets over. The worst we can say is that we are booked.
Second, you do not have to start from scratch. If you already have a backdrop, a banner, a sign, or a color you are set on, bring it to us. Some of our favorite installs are the ones where we build balloons around something a family already loves.
Want one for your grad or college party?
Coppell is home for us, and graduation and college send-off parties are some of our favorite spring work. What we built here was our organic balloon garland service in a school’s exact colors, wrapped around a backdrop the family already owned. We can do the same in any school’s palette, whether your kid is headed to UNT, A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, OU, or anywhere else.
If your senior just committed and you want to celebrate it right, tell us the school and the date and we will build it in their colors. Even if it is last minute, it is worth a text.
